Green Flag Award

Hooray! We have achieved Green Flag status, which is fantastic! This is in recognition of the many steps we have taken towards making the school increasingly eco-friendly. We are very proud of all the hard work and commitment the pupils and staff have put in to achieving this award. As soon as the flag arrives we will be holding a flag raising ceremony!

Tag Rugby

All pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 will be taking part in the Tag Rugby tournament at Cobra, Meifod on Wednesday 16th September. They will be sharing a coach to and from the event with both Llangedwyn and Llanrhaeadr pupils. It is an all day event, so they will need a packed lunch, drinks, PE kit, tracksuit bottoms and a warm waterproof jacket. They will be accompanied by Mrs Evans and Mrs Morris.

Rotary Club ‘Lifeline’ event

Year 5 pupils attended Park Hall on Thursday 10th September. They experienced a range of ‘real life’ scenarios, which hopefully they will have learnt some lessons from, (such as the age required to ride a quad bike!)

Art exhibition at Llansilin Church in aid of Friends of St. Silins

An Art Exhibition is being held in Llansilin Church over the weekend of the19th and 20th September. All the pupils have submitted pieces of art work and Margaret Charman will be judging the paintings, which will be displayed in The Parish Room.

The winners will be announced and prizes awarded on Saturday Morning at 12.00.

The sections are Under 7. 7 – 11. And over 11. The exhibition is open to everyone on Saturday, 19th September 10.00 – 5.00pm

And Sunday, 20th September 11.30 (after morning service) – 4.00pm

There is also a Gala Opening on Friday 18th September from 7.00 – 9.00pm which everyone is invited to attend.

Bronze Ambassadors

Our current Year 6 Sports Ambassadors (Alice and Oliver) democratically chose their successors this week – Rhys and Catherine have been elected. Well done to you both for presenting your cases so convincingly. All Bronze Ambassadors in the Llanfyllin Cluster will be coming to Ysgol Bro Cynllaith to receive training on Friday 18th September.

Film Club and Dragon Sports

These popular after school clubs will start again next week for pupils in Years 3 to 6.

Film Club will be held from 3.15 – 4.15pm every Thursday, starting on the 17th September.

Dragon Sports will be held from 3.15 – 4.15pm every Tuesday, starting on 22nd September.

Urdd membership

In order to take part in the many sporting events which take place each year we are asking once again for pupils in Years 3 to 6 to become members of the Urdd. The cost is £6.50 for the year. Envelopes for those pupils are attached. Thank you for your continued support.
