There will be an additional bank holiday for the UK on Thursday 2 June 2022 to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This is in addition to the Spring Bank Holiday, which will be on Friday 3 June , making a four day weekend for the celebration.
The Minister for Education and the Welsh Language has agreed to amend the Education (School Day and School Year) (Wales) Regulations 2003 to allow for the extra bank holiday.
Therefore, in Powys, the academic year calendar will be amended so that pupils break up for the Summer holiday in 2022 on Thursday 14 July, and the INSET day scheduled for Monday 18 July 2022 will be moved to Friday 15 July 2022.
