Easter break

I hope you are all keeping safe and well. As we approach the Easter holidays I would just like to update you on a few things;

Kirsty Williams AM has made it clear that schools will not re-open after Easter. Obviously this will have an impact on teaching and learning, and also the emotional, physical and mental well-being of our pupils.

We are fortunate in Wales that we have a unique world-class online learning platform for schools, Hwb, which ensures that we can continue teaching and communicating with our pupils.  I have begun utilising Hwb for the KS2 pupils and a home learning plan is being developed by the local authority for everyone in readiness for the Summer term – more details to follow.

All pupils have access to Hwb, you will find their usernames and passwords on the green cards, which were sent home with pupils in their home learning packs. If you cannot find them then please let me know and I will send them to you.

Over the Easter holidays I will not be setting any more work for the pupils than they already have, however I will be sending some links and suggestions of activities as they become available. See below.

“Readaxation” – Free and easy reading resources
Readaxation is a term created by Nicola Morgan author of over 100 books including the bestseller Blame my Brain. Nicola’s working definition of readaxation is the act of reading for pleasure as a deliberate strategy for relaxing stress levels. It acknowledges that relaxation is not a luxury but an essential part of physical and mental wellbeing and health. Readaxation crucially includes the act of achieving flow or engagement which has positive consequences for reducing stress levels and improving wellbeing.

During this period of isolation and separation our need for activities which provide us with flow are greater than ever.
